ActivationPal Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

· Reviewed by Dan

Mobile app analytics that connects onboarding, paywalls, acquisition, and revenue, with cohort comparisons and access for AI coding agents.

Who Is It For?

Mobile app founders who want to understand what happens between an install and a purchase. If you ship several apps, it is especially useful to compare them without opening a separate dashboard for each one.

ActivationPal supports native Swift, native Android, Flutter, and React Native/Expo apps. It connects app events with RevenueCat or Superwall revenue data, so you can see onboarding, paywalls, and purchases together.

Disclosure: I build ActivationPal and use it for my own app portfolio. This is my take on where it helps.

What I Like

The dashboard answers practical questions. Which onboarding step loses people? How many new installs reach the paywall? Which countries bring in revenue? Which apps are doing better than the previous period? You can start with the portfolio view and then look at one app in detail.

The onboarding funnel follows the people who installed in the selected period through completion, paywall views, plan selection, and purchase. That makes the conversion numbers easier to use: a renewal from an older customer does not suddenly make your new onboarding look better.

Cohorts take that further. You can compare groups of users by install date across onboarding completion, retention, paywall conversion, trials, and revenue per install. If you change your onboarding, this gives you a way to see whether later groups actually perform better.

Revenue includes subscriptions, renewals, and one-time purchases. You can switch between gross revenue and net proceeds after refunds, tax, and store fees. Apple Search Ads connects acquisition spend with installs and revenue, which helps when deciding where more ad budget makes sense.

The agent access is useful too. ActivationPal has a read-only MCP server and REST API that return the same analytics as the dashboard. You can ask a coding agent to find the biggest onboarding drop or compare your apps, then use that context while changing the app. The agent documentation explains the available tools and app permissions.

Pricing is based on events, with unlimited apps on every plan. The free plan includes 10,000 events total and three months of history. Paid plans start at $9 per month for 50,000 monthly events, then $19 for 250,000 and $29 for one million. Annual billing is $90, $190, and $290 respectively. See the current pricing.

What Could Be Better

You need to integrate the SDK and record your onboarding and paywall events properly. Connecting a revenue provider alone does not tell you which screen people abandoned. The useful funnel starts with good instrumentation.

The free allowance is 10,000 events total, not a fresh allowance each month. Installs, sessions, onboarding steps, and custom actions all contribute to usage, so a growing app will need a paid plan.

Apple Ads attribution is for iOS. Android support does not mean you get the same acquisition attribution there. And if you want session recordings or a general website analytics tool, that is outside the focus here.

Verdict

I recommend ActivationPal for mobile app founders who want to improve onboarding and conversion with numbers they can act on. It is particularly useful when you run several apps and want to compare them in one place. Start with the free event allowance, instrument one app, and see which part of the install-to-purchase journey needs attention.
